Guitar Tuition / Lessons - A Warning

Whilst taking tips from and watching guitar video tuition clips on the internet can be useful for reinforcement and back up of formal tuition. It should not be used as a substitute for proper, qualified, one to one guitar lessons. Bad playing habits are quickly and easily learned, plus difficult and costly to undo in terms of time and money.

Teaching Aims

Teaching Method

There is no requirement to read music to start learning to play. Lessons are conducted on a one to one basis, students are shown the various techniques required to enable them to play their chosen instrument. This in turn is backed up in written form, using easy to read chord diagrams and tablature. As pupils progress, they are encouraged to make use of our studio facilities for performance and recording, to help reinforce what they have previously learnt and of course to have some fun making music.

Teacher and Pupil

The Teacher commits to putting aside time to prepare lessons that are suitable for the individual and of course time to conduct them. Quite often this commitment on behalf of the teacher, will involve working many unsocial hours and having to remain “flexible” in their working method. The Pupil commits to putting aside time for regular guitar lessons and practice, also being considerate of the teacher’s time.

What Do I Need to Get Started?

To start lessons all that's required is an instrument to practice on and a notebook. If you need help with choosing an instrument, contact Dave via the website and he will be only to happy to oblige. There are a few instruments to look at in the shop
